Online social commentary (media commentary):

Jeremy and Sean have partnered with Other Ocean, the game developers behind the Xbox indy game #IDARB, to make Project TankBall! The idea is a live action RC soccer game using tanks that players can control remotely over the streaming service Mixer. The team explains the process of prototyping the game, which is launched today and will evolve over time with your feedback!

Thanks for watching!
Some kind of race would be fun. Going through and obstacle course.
This is so cool! Our robot club may love to do something like this. I can wait to show them.
This is incredible. I have always been fascinated by merging real world actions with virtual world and this just hits on all levels
This has so much potential, it's amazing!!
This is so cool! Last year's robotic soccer toy from Hexbug was really awesome as well. This is a step further!
Well that was super fun. Had 10+ seconds of lag at the end, though. That was hard to control.
"First thing I thought about is Pong, and how it started interest in video gaming. This also could start something cool, different and fun. I like this and hope more is developed.
" "For anyone wondering the 6dof tracking system is called ""Pozyx"" Its really expensive though.
" with a few upgrades i can see this as a fun FPV laser tag game
Other Ocean is going live with the game today at 12pm PST and 4pm PST! https://mixer.com/otherocean
Always wanted to participate in a virtual mapped to real game. Lag will be my issue (Australian ping will be 250ms at least). Stull very interested in progress. Look forward to updates.
I played that earlier today, Project TankBall. It was very fun and interactive. There was a couple of games where I gave in to other players, I didn't want to break other people's toys or treads. I can say there was a little bit of lag, but for the most part the interactive style through my tablet and my controller, was very precise when the connection was solid. Can't wait for the next game ... A+++
I feel like everyone on Tested is slowly morphing into Adam Savage
Watching people play this, I think it would be fun if the drivers had a way to "kick" the ball. Maybe something spring/lever activated on the front of the tank that was small enough to fit inside the front "catcher" (or whatever they call it). I also think it's time to set up an obstacle or two. Maybe a ramp or a tunnel? One more idea, since the ultimate goal is to have this up on a table, have you considered ramps or holes that go down?...or up for that matter? Levels!
"Impressive project. Technical question what library did you use for the combat program (i.e. the user interface showing the map and bot orientation location)? Seems nice for quick and dirty projects.
" Could you folks post a list of parts, parts numbers and where to get them? Any Shared 3D printing designs? Software used etc. More so to understand how they work and properly understand the tech. Love the idea your working on.
"I played this games, I am sure I did. It was RC robot tanks u used in a web browser and controlled the tanks in real time in a (will note, incredibly detailed model city. Well done ) in a Russian focused landscape. It gave me a Chernobyl feel.

Was major hyped at the potential from this
" "Imagine this but with weapons and lazer that disable cars. I'm sure you (reading this) have come across the Hexbug Battle Spider that shoots and receives signals that simulate ""battle."" Take that concept, add physical implements to the cars that either launch the ball or hit other cars.
" Currently, the body shape reminds me of scorpions, with the camera looking like a tail and the ball catcher looking like pincers, so Score-pions?
Simple idea for implementing the oil NFC if you guys haven't done so already; when input comes in to move one tread forward, move the opposite tread in the same direction by a percent value of the speed. That way you get that sort of "slippery" turning feel.
