They really are some of the best tracks I have seen and appear to have very
good strength. I participate in the hobby of RC Tank Combat. I would very much
like to know the details of your method of track construction. It seems to be of
common interest. I think you are on to something good. I see the basic
construction is to use hollow pin roller chain and run long fasteners through
it. I also would like to know how you did your tracking tabs. Very nice tank.
"The Chassis is based on a Leclerc taken from photos on the web.
I chose it simply because it has a shorter wheel base than other modern tanks
which will make it a bit more agile."
"Thanks for comment. Should say firstly I do not use hollow roller chain, its
just regular. Hollow chain would behave different as you would use it is as is
rather than break it apart and put it back together. Its the breaking apart
thats important as then you can rebuild it different. Dont have any track making
vids but will be working on this vehicle again soon with the eventual goal of
another vid.
The tabs are cut from steel, that are basically triangles with 2 holes drilled
out."
Nice im working on a tiger 1 in 1/4 scale. im planing to do the tracks with
roller chain
Great. Where did you get it? Or you made it?
I am making a tank next year. what did you make the tracks out of? thanks
what motors and gear box are you using im building my own and need a idea here.
Yes, roller chain, trick is to break it apart, replace some parts and
re-assemble as roller track.
can you explain a little on how you made the tracks? are they molded urethane
rubber?
you need to increase the tank weight or decrease the thickness of the rods,
obviously.
Could you pleas tell me how you made or where you got the tracks?
You are building a LECLERC tank... 6 Drive Wheels on one track and hull design
is also of leclerc tank.
Not molded, the tracks are hand cut out of solid strips of rubber, carved out
with an angle grinder held freehand. I drill the rubber before cutting it with a
drill press.
JUMP! :D
