Air Hogs Storm Launcher and Mini Storm Launcher restored to flight.. RC Helicopters | Radio Control Scale Models, RC Helicopters For Sale | Buy Remote Control Helicopter
My friends (Thanks Mike and Rick) gave me these Storm Launchers after the fire so I have restored them to flight. For those that weren't exposed to these 13 years ago, I hope you enjoy seeing another new innovation when flying machines began using variable motor controls to control yaw, elevator, and roll all at once. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
Dave Herbert
OMG Mr. Herbert, I still have 2 Storm Launchers! They're not as pretty as yours,
but they still fly (assuming the yellow batteries still work). This is a blast
from the past ??
Mr. Herbert! I feel like I¡¯m back to being a kid in 2010 with absolutely no rc
flying experience, watching your channel. Thanks again for a great video
Always loved watching you fly those Storm Launchers. They are so unique. And of
course, you always make improvements on them too! ??
Hi Dave! I've been watching for years. Thank you for sharing all your experience
with us. I also have a storm launcher and my batteries are shot. I may have
missed a video on it, do you have one showing how you replaces the guts? I'd
love to fly it again! Thank you sir!
Thanks so much Dave ,I never get tired watching your videos on the storm
launchers I still own two standard and one mini ,the mini is flying well with
new battery as you said. I have a brushless kit for the standard one which I
need to do that project and I will try the drone props on the other one.
"I started in the hobby in 2009, after finding a MSL for something like $4 at a
returns store. Went back for more. Those legendary N20 motors are the Merlins of
Toygrade :)
Very cool to see these 2 back in the air!"
Hey Dave, the mini storm launcher is how I first found your channel. My son had
one as a birthday gift all those years ago and we flew it together, with varying
success a few times. I then uploaded a short clip of him flying it which lead me
to look for other such videos.. I've been watching your channel ever since and
I'm always pleased to see a notification of a new video. Keep up the good work!
Thumbs up from England ??
Few more ways I applied on my recent twin project to tackle bias 1. Shifting CG
sideways by putting battery not in middle giving more moment arm to one motor 2.
Applying an led in series (acts as a resistor) on the motor that produce more
thrust 3. using rudder to tacle but that made it crab
Wow, I loved my Storm Launcher & cut the top stabilizer off mine too. I was
always trying to mod that thing, and my neighbors got a kick out of it! ??
Oh man I remember watching your videos back then when I was a kid. I loved
watching your airhogs videos. Now I'm 21. Time really does fly by.
Loved flying mine and so easy to repair with a little hot glue!!
Very cool man. I forgot I had this. I bought it for my kid a bunch of years ago
and just found it in the attic. I am going to have to get this thing flying
again.
OMG this brings back so many memories :-) I had both. This is how I found this
channel that many years ago :-)
To easy to forget History. Thumb's up video, very cool seeing them older birds
still flying!~John

Good to see that you keep the old stuff going awsome vid as always ty ty
I've got 5 of 8 Storm Launchers (3 died)still and like 40 stock batteries and
loads of spare props if you need! I also stock piled 180 motors...I used to love
flying them. Great invention which should be brought back. If you mount a
smallish triangular wing in between the vertical stabilizers it will be much
more smooth and not rock! Someone on youtube has a video on this.
i had one, i always felt like they were not really meant for flight they just
happen to do it so they added the elevator surface and shipped it, but i could
be wrong. my flight was never stable but on the ground, snow or water it was
very stable.
"I still have a storm launcher mini which I never fully made use of because my
silly younger self never read the manual and threw away the little black
antennae for the front of the plane.
Anyone know of anything which I could purchase as a replacement for this ?? I
would really appreciate any ideas or suggestions, being able to finally fly It
would be amazing!!! Thanks in advance??"
I miss my storm launcher. Was so cool when i was 11
Man does this take me back.... .. seems like there was a lot of little foamy
freeflight ones back then and now we have radio control stuff that'll fit in.
I've thought about converting some of them I need to go back to the toy store
and see what I can find in the kids aisle......
Love your videos!
I loved my Storm Launcher!
So many memories brought back. Nice fuzzy feeling comes in when I see it
"I remember when I was 6 year's old and stormlauncher's were everywhere
I wish I have one but in time that there were sold in Croatia my parent's were
going through a financial struggle
Still wish I had one
It's on a back burner for now"
thanks for the prop tips mr herbert my local flea market has a box with a bunch
of chinese toy drones maybe i can use them as spare props for my storm launcher.
I do not remember seeing those. Then again, That was at a time I was not back
into flying RC . I replaced my WLToys SkyKing with a new one. I had the old one
for 3 years and really enjoyed it as a back yard flyer. On the days I am not
feeling well enough to break out my big planes, I will have my Sky King.
Do you remember what these original machines were called before Air Hogs started
producing them?
I miss those machines. To bad they discontinued them.
Glad to see you back in the saddle again
I have one for parts if you need it. It has 2 sets of perfect props.
"1:33 Did you ever try to do differential thrust? You swap out the electronics
put a regular r/c electronics in there with a r/c radio I'm sure your Spectrum
has that feature on there along with some small brushless whoop style motors
like 802 17500kv or this

Wonderful job on the restoration and flights Dave!"
